2011 Volkswagen Passat Variant

Volkswagen Passat is equipped with new safety and comfort technology. Volkswagen Passat is added to the fatigue detection system that automatically monitors the driver input and automatically emit audible and visual warnings to recommend a break if needed.
The diesel engines range from 105 PS to 140 PS and 170 PS, while the petrols include a 122 PS TSI, 160 PS TSI and a 211 PS TSI. The German carmaker also claims that the 2011 Passat’s fuel economy ranges from 4.2 l/100km (56 mpg) to 9.3 l/100km (25 mpg).

New safety features: Volkswagen is making genuine progress in the area of safety. The previous model already attained an impressive five stars in Euro-NCAP crash testing. The new model takes safety to a new level with features such as an automatic City emergency braking function and, on Comfortline models and above, a standard fatigue detection function. As a component of the optional automatic ACC adaptive cruise control system, in worst case scenarios the emergency braking function reacts independently at speeds below 30 km/h. So, it can help prevent frontal collisions. The fatigue detection system, which Volkswagen is introducing for the first time in this class, is continually active; it detects reduced driver concentration and warns the driver with an acoustic signal; a visual message also appears in the instrument cluster recommending that the driver should take a break from driving.

The fresh look continues inside the seventh generation Passat with new seats that can be specified to both heat and cool their occupants and even feature a massage function for the driver and front seat passenger. A revised dashboard with new dials, trim finishes and an analogue clock are joined by subtle chrome inserts and the option of ambience lighting similar to that found in the Phaeton. The centre console has also been uprated with revisions to the minor controls as well as new door trims.
